Who we Are
ABC Saints represents the Scottish Episcopal Churches in Alyth (St Ninian's), Blairgowrie (St Catharine's), Coupar Angus (St Anne's) and Ballintuim (St Michael's). These churches are part of the Diocese of St. Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane. Here on this website you will be able to find out about how to join us at our various services and activities
Our rector is the Revd. James Bryson, who was previously Priest-in-Charge at St John the Baptist, Eltham, in the Diocese of Southwark in south-east London. James was born and grew up in Fife, where he still has family. His institution service took place on 16th November 2019.

After a degree in geography I took a Diploma in Town Planning and became a planner in local government in England and the Civil Service in Scotland. Whilst working for the Countryside Commission for Scotland my appreciation of Christianity changed and in 1982 I became a Lay Reader and subsequently felt called to ordination in 1990 working as an NSM for the ABC group. I took early retirement in 1996 and after a short break worked for a couple of years in a field sports shop. Over the past twenty or so years I have ministered in ABC and also done interregnum postings in St John’s Perth and the Strathearn Group. Outside the church I do (did!) woodwork, gardening as my back allows, cooking and Scottish Country Dancing. I am also “noted” for my sense of humour and a mean Mothering Sunday simnel cake!

I’ve been a lot of things in my life from hospital administrator to shopkeeper and much in between. My degree is in history. As far as the church goes I began as Sunday school teacher, youth worker and general administrator for our three churches. I felt called to ordination and trained with TISEC. I was ordained in 1996 and after a curacy here was accepted as Rector of St Mary’s Dunblane where I spent 10 very happy years. On retirement David and I returned to Blairgowrie and help out here and round the Diocese where needed.
